Porn star Jesse Jane found dead aged 43

The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner is now investigating the cause of death

Police in Oklahoma have confirmed adult film star Jesse Jane has passed away at the age of 43.

The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner is investigating the cause of death after two people, including Jane, were found dead inside a Moore home on Wednesday (24 January).

Police went to the home at around 11am that morning to conduct a welfare check on those inside.

Inside, police found the two people they identified as Jane, whose real name is Cindy Howell and Brett Hasenmueller.

They are both believed to have died of a suspected overdose.

At the time of writing it is unclear for long Jane and Hasenmueller were in the house before they were discovered.

The actor began her career in the adult film industry back in 2002 after signing with Californian porn studio Digital Playground.

Due to her popularity, she was later cast in the 2005 R-rated action-adventure offering Pirates alongside Carmen Luvana and Janine Lindemulder.

At the time of the movie's release, project producer Samantha Lewis claimed that Pirates was the ‘most expensive pornographic film ever made’, with a reported budget of over $1 million.

Three years later, Jane was cast in the sequel Pirates II: Stagnetti's Revenge, which had an gigantic budget of $8 million.

As well as starring in adult projects the mother-of-one has made cameo appearances in Starsky & Hutch and an episode of the HBO dramedy series Entourage.

Following the news of Jane’s death, Pirates director Joone has posted a heartbreaking tribute to her friend on social media.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday, he wrote: “I am heartbroken by the loss of my friend, Jesse Jane, who was a remarkable person and a phenomenal artist.

“She touched so many lives with her grace and beauty, her infectious laugh and a smile that lit up the world. I’m honoured to have known her and to have been her friend.”

Elsewhere, Penthouse magazine’s photo editor Sam Phillips wrote: “I am in shock after reading former adult star Jesse Jane is dead from an apparent drug overdose.

"Jesse was the sweetest and kindest human on this planet.

“I hired her for her very first movie role, a mainstream one called, Busty Cops, before she did adult films. I am Devastated."

Another friend of the star said: “It is with a heavy heart, I am shocked & saddened by the news my dear friend of over 20 years, Cindy Howell also known as adult film star, Jesse Jane has passed away.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to her son. Rest In Peace, Jess…"

Fans have also taken to social media in the wake of the news, with one writing: “RIP Jesse Jane. She had a phenomenal late 2000s run.”

A second said: “RIP to Jesse Jane, was such a fan of her career and work, one of the best to do it, may she find peace and may everyone be safe with what they take or choose not to, especially these days.”
