People are baffled after watching a Great Dane be greeted onboard a flight, as a passenger claimed it was his 'emotional support' dog.

Passengers of a flight suggested a man took things 'too far' after bringing his Great Dane with him onto the aircraft for emotional support.

Most airlines in the US forbid emotional support animals on their flights, but specific documentation can allow it in rare circumstances.

The clip of the man and his giant dog being greeted onboard has since gone viral, amassing 4.8 million views.

A female flight attendant can be heard welcoming the passengers onto the aircraft.

"Hey, welcome aboard," she said reluctantly, before the dog proceeded to step on her foot.

"Ow!' she exclaimed, before the owner apologised.

Some have even argued that the dog's presence on the plane was dangerous, as a Great Dane typically weighs between 110 to 175 pounds.

Life Coach Rob, who shared the video on social media, captioned the clip: "Have we taken this support animal thing too far?"

And his question prompted quite the response from users online.

One said: "Emotional support for one person, emotional distress for hundreds! This is ridiculous."

Another agreed, adding: "I am a dog lover but this is getting absolutely ridiculous. I am all for trained service animals…this is not one of them."

A fellow Great Dane owner even called the passenger out, saying: "As a person who had a Great Dane and viewing this one’s classic body language, this is NOT an assisted therapy animal. Lol."

And if you were wondering where the dog sat for the entirety of the flight, it turns out it had its own seat.

A fourth admitted: "I would have been pi**ed if he was anywhere near me on the plane. This is so disrespectful and should not have been allowed."

One person noted that the dog onboard could be a serious health concern for passengers with particular allergies.

They said: "So now you put that dog next to someone who has dog trauma or allergies… then what?

"Because it can’t block the aisle! It’s legit going to be on the next person’s lap unless they paid for two seats. Also, that poor dog won’t be able to lay down."

However, it wasn't all hate for the man and his dog.

Some even revealed that they would prefer to sit next to a dog than 'screaming kids'.

"That dog can sit next to me anytime," they added.

Another said: "That big baby can sit next to me anytime."
