A scientist has claimed to have solved the long-held mystery of the Bermuda Triangle, and it's surprisingly simple.

The Bermuda Triangle has been an eerie mystery for years, spawning loads of conspiracy theories into what goes on at the infamous location.

But we may now have an answer to our frustrated questions.

The Bermuda Triangle is also known as ‘The Devil’s Triangle’, as many planes carrying a number of crew members have gone missing in this specific spot during travel.

The ‘triangle’ in which aircrafts have gone missing through the years is located in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean.

Speculation has surrounded the Bermuda Triangle for the past 70 years, after multiple aircrafts were completely lost at sea without a trace.

Many theories have been thrown around, such as aliens, as some people theorised that the reason for the missing planes was down to extra-terrestrials which have captured the crafts due to a portal into our world, or even 'wormholes' as some believe that the planes vanished due to a glitch within space and time.

Another bizarre theory is that compass malfunctions are to blame due to the area's magnetic field.

Basically, the weirder the circumstances, the weirder the theories.

Bermuda has been one of the biggest mysteries of all time, and we finally seem to have an explanation from scientist Karl Kruszelnicki, who gave his thoughts on the infamous site.

Kruszelnicki has come forward to say he believes that the mystery is that there was no mystery to begin with.

Bit anti-climatic in comparison to the worm-holes...

He shared that the reason behind the missing aircrafts can be simply explained, as it's likely a case of ‘human error, bad weather, and heavy air and sea traffic.’

“It is close to the Equator, near a wealthy part of the world – America - therefore you have a lot of traffic,” the scientist said.

“According to Lloyd’s of London and the US Coastguard, the number that go missing in the Bermuda Triangle is the same as anywhere in the world on a percentage basis.”

Mr Kruszelnicki, who has a fellowship at Sydney University for communicating science to the broader community, explained that the start of the conspiracies began with the 'loss of flight 19'.

The Bermuda Triangle has been a mystery for over 70 years.

Flight 19 happened when five aircrafts disappeared in the ‘triangle’, the flight launched from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on December 5 1945 and was meant to be a simple regulation two-hour flight training mission.

Soon after, all aircrafts lost radio contact with their base, and have never been seen since, along with no remains of the place being found in the ocean.
