Instagram users seriously unimpressed with new likes feature

Instagram users seriously unimpressed with new likes feature

There's not a whole lot of love for Instagram's new update

It’s safe to say that users haven’t exactly been impressed by the recent changes to social media.

First, Facebook went all Meta then it was bye bye birdy as Twitter became ‘X’, with plenty of frustrated comments, rather ironically, posted on others apps.

However, the trend doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon as users are ‘unimpressed’ with Instagram’s new-like animation.

If you aren’t up to date with the new look app, it might be best to watch the video below to find out what we're on about.

The short clip shows a demo of what happens when you like a post on Instagram, with a rather large heart appearing in the right-hand corner.

As if that wasn't enough, the bright pink heart then flies up the page which seriously disrupts any doom-scrolling.

Understandably, users have been left hugely unimpressed with the update and currently don’t have a lot of love for the app.

It comes just over a month since Threads was launched on the platform, with the off-shoot site meant to be a rival to newly renamed X.

Rather ironically though, many users have taken venting their Insta frustration on X.

Instagram's latest update has left fans unimpressed.

Having a heart-to-heart about the changing app, one user said that they were shocked by the new like button and its rather over-the-top reaction, tweeting: “The new instagram likes animation is too much, calm down I wasn’t THAT impressed…

"Why instagram got my likes flying on the screen?”

Another agreed, writing: “Why Instagram got my likes flying on the screen?”

Meanwhile, others focused on how wholeheartedly they disliked the update.

“What is this new feature of Instagram likes, I’m not sure I like the big heart,” added a third, while a fourth wrote: “The new instagram likes feature DOESN’T look good at all.”

One user even questioned if the feature could be switched off, after being similarly unenthusiastic by Instagram’s recent overhaul.

“Is there a way to turn off the new Instagram likes heart animation,” they wrote

For those who feel half-hearted about Instagram’s new update, you can avoid it by simply turning off the auto-updates on the app - that's if it hasn't already updated itself.

To do this, go to settings and privacy and hit ‘About’, where you’ll then be able to toggle the Auto-update button to off.

Hopefully, there will be a whole lot of love for the next social media update.
