Police seize drug dealer’s ‘phone’ that experts believe could be a firearm

The device was found to fold out to look like a pistol and ballistics experts are now examining it.

Australia has apparently turned into the set of a Michael Bay film, with police uncovering what appears to be an actual Transformer during a drug bust.

Officers from Western Australia's organized crime unit came across a rather odd-looking device during a February 15 raid in Baldivis, south of Perth.

Police revealed the item looked like an innocuous mobile phone at first, but don't believe everything you see, because this 'phone' could move.

With a few flicks of the wrist, it could turn a criminal lowlife into a violent threat in mere seconds.

Whoever was using the phone won't get any more bang for their buck either way, as the phone-weapon seized by police.

WA Police said in a statement that while the device 'appears to be a mobile phone', it can 'be folded to appear as a replica firearm'.

Ballistic testing is underway to confirm if the collapsable cell phone is a replica weapon or a real one that can actually fire bullets.

A Baldivis man was arrested at a nearby Mandurah shopping center in connection to the raid.

The 31-year-old was remanded in custody until March 3 with no bail posted.

A woman was also charged and will appear in the Rockingham Magistrates Court on April 3.

In another cool police operation that went down in recent weeks, New Zealand's Navy happened across a huge amount of cocaine at sea.

The 81 bales of the illicit drug was discovered by Operation Hydros, a crack team of New Zealanders that work to foil drug traffickers at sea.

The massive stockpile was found bobbing about at sea attached to buoys and was rightly wrapped in plastic.

The stash of illicit drugs have an estimated street value of NZ$500 million (AUD$453 million) and came stamped with the Batman logo or a four leaf clover symbol.

NZ Police Commissioner Andrew Coster said it was the 'single biggest' drugs seizure in Kiwi history.

"While this disrupts the operations [of gangs and drug lords], we remain vigilant given the lengths we know these groups will go to circumvent coming to law enforcement’s attention," he said via a statement.

"There is no doubt this discovery lands a major financial blow right from the South American producers through to the distributors of this product."

Yikes.

Looks like it is a bad time to be a criminal these days. Or a Transformer.
