One Person Killed And Multiple Injured As Vehicle Drives Into Pedestrians In Berlin

The vehicle crashed outside a department store in the Charlottenburg area

One person was killed and multiple people have been injured after a vehicle drove into pedestrians in Berlin.

The vehicle involved was a small Renault car and the driver has been detained by police, reports Sky News.

Berlin Police say they remain unsure whether the crash was an accident or deliberate.

The incident occurred on Rankestrasse close to the shopping district's Breitscheidplatz, nearby the area where the 2016 Christmas market attack occurred as 13 people were killed.

Actor John Barrowman MBE was at the scene and took to social media to update us on what he thought happened.

He tweeted: "We’ve seen a car that came down the road and ended up in a storefront covering three city blocks it’s pretty horrific."
