The trailer for the sequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has just dropped on Netflix.

That’s right, the sequel to the 1974 slasher flick is coming to Netflix.

While both movies has similar names, the sequel is called Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and the new instalment promises to breathe new life, or death, into the franchise.

It’s been 47 years since Tobe Hooper’s horrific classic, which introduced Leatherface and his cannibalistic family to audiences for the first time.

David Blue Garcia is directing the new film and the screenplay has been written by Chris Thomas Devlin.

While there have been a few sequels, remakes and reboots, none have compared to the original.

However, Netflix’s latest addition may be what fans have been waiting for, with Netflix reportedly gaining the global distribution rights to Texas Chainsaw Massacre from Legendary Pictures.

The film picks up just after the first, with Netflix Film announcing the exciting news on Twitter.

‘In 2022, the face of madness returns. TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, only on Netflix February 18,’ it announced.

The trailer shows an eerie house, with jump cuts of Leatherface terrorising new victims.

According to Netflix, the film centres around:

Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson) [who] head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas, to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents — including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.

If that’s not enough to cut through the holiday blues, we don’t know what is.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre will premiere on Netflix on February 18, 2022.
