A man who bought 200 Land Rovers nearly a decade ago has revealed how much money he's been offered to sell one.

While many of us were blowing any spare cash we had on takeaways and random junk we definitely didn't need, Charles Fawcett was thinking both smarter and harder.

In 2015, he decided to buy not just one but a whopping 200 'last of the line' un-driven Land Rover Defenders and there's method behind the apparent madness.

Fawcett is now potentially able to make some serious money should he sell even just one of his fleet.

Fawcett founded luxury automotive company Twisted in Yorkshire, UK, in 2000 and that was the year the company 'introduced its first Land Rover specific performance parts,' its site states.

By 2003, first entirely Twisted TD5 90 demo vehicle was created and in 2009, the company was making many custom client vehicles for people with Land Rover Defenders.

So, in 2015, Fawcett told Supercar Blondie he went to the Defender production line located in Solihull, England to pick up the 200 un-driven Defenders.

If you'd had the same idea and picked up one of the cars around 2015, it would have set you back somewhere around $42,000, but now?

Well, people are now willing to pay a hefty sum to get their hands on one of the 200 vehicles custom modified by Twisted, reported as offering as much as $268,000 and above for one of the 16 the company has up for sale.

Times that by 16 and that's over $3 million - why did no one tell the rest of us to buy Land Rovers in 2015, eh?

Fawcett explains all of the cars were 'registered in 2016 after production ceased identifying them among the last off the line and, arguably, more collectible' and it's not only that which has boosted their price.

Not only do the cars only have less than 30 miles on the clock meaning they're pretty much brand new, but they're all based on the top level of Land Rover available a the time - the XS Spec.

Fawcett explained the 16 up for offer were 'hand-picked for their chassis numbers and build dates'.

"They’re special, and when twisted, each one is the only one. Hence the limited run is called One of One," he added.

Alongside choosing whether you want a petrol or diesel engine, you can also upgrade the wheels, suspension, brakes, tyres - oh, and there's custom LED lighting on offer too.

Fawcett resolved: "All of the 16 will be Twisted, but exactly how depends on the lifestyle and tastes of the customer.

"The Twisted way isn’t to tell people what their Defender should be; it’s to work with them to create a Defender that’s the best fit for them."
