Hawk Tuah Girl is facing criticism after released her own cryptocurrency.

Haliey Welch found viral fame over the summer following her NSFW comments about 'what makes a guy go crazy in bed', with her reply earning her the name of 'Hawk Tuah Girl'.

She's since garnered almost three million Instagram followers and released her own podcast.

Now, Haliey has further broadened her horizons and debuted her own meme coin called HAWK.

HAWK coin became available yesterday (December 4), and it quickly rose to a peak market cap of $490 million.

But it faced an eye-water 91 per cent downturn in just a three-hour period, CoinTelegraph reports, and was trading at a valuation of $41.7 million.

Now, those who purchased some of the viral star's cryptocurrency have been left out of pocket, and understandably, they're not happy about the fiasco.

One person took to Twitter to claim that they'd bought $35,000 worth of coin, but it to be worth just $2,000 ten minutes later.

"I am a huge fan of Hawk Tuah but you took my life savings," they penned to Haliey on the social media platform. "I purchased your coin $Hawk that you were so excited about with my life savings and children’s college education fund as well.

"You didn’t mention that you were going to buy 97% of the supply and sell it almost immediately to make a large profit."

Another person said: "So... it turns out the Hawk Tauh crypto meme coin was not a good investment."

Meanwhile, others claimed Haliey 'rug-pulled' those who invested in HAWK coin.

"I only there was a way that Hawk Tuah Girl could find a way to quickly make tens of millions of dollars on the internet to pay back everyone that got rug-pulled on her meme coin," someone wrote.

Hi @HalieyWelchX My $35,000 that I purchased of $Hawk is now $2,000 after 10 minutes of buying.

A second said: "We live in a weird timeline. @HalieyWelchX aka “Hawk Tuah” girl using her popularity created a meme coin on Solana blockchain. Then rug pulled the investors. Is this legal?"

Others went as far as suggesting that the viral star-turned-podcaster should face legal consequences for the debacle - with some even claiming she 'deserves to be in jail right now'.

While several have accused Haliey of shorting her fans, she has denied any wrong doing.

"Hawkanomics: Team hasn’t sold one token and not 1 KOL was given 1 free token," she tweeted in a copy and pasted message.

"We tried to stop snipers as best we could through high fee’s in the start of launch on @MeteoraAG. Fee’s have now been dropped."

UNILAD have approached Haliey's reps for comment.
