Mighty Ducks actor Shaun Weiss has been arrested.

The American actor who appeared as Goldberg in the Mighty Ducks franchise has been arrested in California.

Weiss has got into trouble in the past for drug-related issues and theft. In 2017, the actor was sentenced to 90 days in county jail for possession of suspected methamphetamine.

At the time, Weiss’ rep spoke to Page Six about his arrest.

They said:

He has hit his bottom. Hopefully he will stay clean and sober when he gets out.

On Saturday night the 38-year-old was arrested again for being under the influence of drugs.

He was taken to the Butte County Jail, but reportedly released after a few hours.

The Oroville Public Safety Department posted to Facebook about the situation.

The post read:

On August 4th, at 12:47am, officers contacted Shaun Weiss near a business located on the 1700 block of Oro Dam Blvd.

Weiss was arrested for being under the influence of drugs.

He was transported and booked into the Butte County Jail.

He was arrested for intoxication only and no further criminal proceedings are desired at this time.

We have been inundated with calls from various news outlets and others about an arrest that occurred over the weekend….

Weiss’ acting career began in 1986 playing Elvis on Pee-wee’s Playhouse but he became best known for his role as Greg Goldberg in The Mighty Ducks and then followed it up with a starring role in 1995 Disney film Heavyweights.

His later career included a short-lived run on NBC’s Freaks and Geeks as a ‘freak’ called Sean. He later went on to make minor cameo appearances on American sitcom The King of Queens alongside Hollywood star Kevin James.

Weiss’ acting saw him make commercial appearances for Captain Morgan, Castrol, Verizon Wireless and ESPN Mobile MVP before making his final acting appearance in Drillbit Taylor in 2008. He was the bus driver at the beginning of the film.

The Mighty Ducks was expected to get a reboot after reports at the beginning of 2018 claimed ABC Signature were already at the early stages of pre-production. News of a Ducks reboot has gone quiet since then despite reports claiming the original writer Steven Brill was on board and had been approached about a reboot.

However with talks quiet, we probably shouldn’t hold our quacks we’ll be getting a dose of our childhood in reboot form any time soon. That, and the fact people seem to be getting tired of reboots and want to see a bit more creativity in Hollywood, rather than rehashes of the classics.

Right now, I imagine most Ducks fans’ thoughts aren’t particularly on a reboot, but hoping a well loved part of our childhood can get his life back on track and back on the silver screen, entertaining audiences as he did so brilliantly all those years ago as Goldberg.
