Travelling to a foreign country, the greenery that would land you in jail isn’t often expected to be spinach and yet here we are.

In this bizarre micronation in Nevada, tourists have been warned against bringing contraband into the 11-acre plot of land.

The Republic of Molossia was first established in 1977 as the Grand Republic of Goldstein and the country’s leader and President, Kevin Baugh, has spoken about how he runs his country.

Or should I say, Baugh’s full title: His Excellency President Grand Admiral Colonel Doctor Kevin Baugh, President and Raïs of Molossia, Protector of the Nation and Guardian of the People.

If you were thinking, this smells like a dictator, you would essentially be correct as this is how Baugh describes himself.

Wondering why you have never heard of this place? Well, because Molossia is not recognized by the UN.

In fact, many micronations around the world are not recognized by any of the sovereign states of the globe.

The nation is home to 38 people and only 3 of them actually live on the land in Dayton, Nevada - Baugh, his wife and their 20-year-old daughter.

Baugh spoke to the Sun about his contraband rule and said visitors can’t bring onions, spinach, catfish, and walruses into the country.

Speaking on his rule, Buagh said: “Onions aren’t allowed because I just don’t like onions – and I’m the dictator so I can say stuff like that.

“When you break the rules and bring catfish into our country you go to jail.

“We just like doing things that are different, that are unique and eccentric in our country.”

If you were planning to travel with a case full of vegetables to the state and were subsequently jailed, you would join a very small list of criminals.

Baugh has said that the micronation has only had to jail a few people and it is mainly used to briefly jail those tourists that 'bring contraband into Molossia', he said speaking to the New York Post.

He added: “It’s surprising how many people are excited to be thrown into jail in a third-world country!”

The wannabe dictator leader has said he is quite proud of the country as he claimed it was simply a desert before he decided to build the nation from scratch.

He said: “I’m very proud of what I’ve crafted. There was nothing there before we moved in and declared it to be our country.”

Well, that is certainly a new travel destination added to the old bucket list.
