Man who proposed to Sixers' dancer girlfriend responds to trolls who said she was out of his league

A man who proposed to his girlfriend at a basketball match has responded to trolls who say she is way out of his league.

A man who proposed to his girlfriend on a basketball court has responded to trolls on social media saying she is out of his league.

The man, who we now know goes by the name of Chris Girard, surprised his girlfriend with a shock proposal while she was at work as a dancer for the Philadelphia 76ers.

The woman thought she was taking part in a normal routine for the Sixers' match against the Los Angeles Clippers but she was so wrong.

The normal dance was stopped with a Christmas mascot holding a banner with the words 'will you marry me' on it.

Next to this banner-holding mascot was another one who took off his costume, and there you have it, the woman's boyfriend was behind it.

The man shocked his girlfriend with a proposal.

The woman was obviously shocked by her boyfriend Chris' appearance, as he struggles to get his foot out of the costume.

Anyway, he approaches his girlfriend, gets down on one knee - and she is in complete disbelief.

She immediately says yes in what is a really lovely moment for everyone there to witness.

Even the mascot was impressed as he joined in the couple's embrace on the court.

The clip was broadcasted on ESPN and quickly went viral as the TV network shared it on social media.

On Twitter, the heartwarming moment has been viewed over 23 million times and has received over 36 likes.

Unfortunately, Chris was met with a trolling on Twitter, with many saying that the woman is out of her league.

Other comments included people asking if he was rich, as they said that must be the only reason that the woman is with him.

But rather than responding to each troller individually and give them the reaction they are after, Chris put out a simple tweet that is quite frankly genius.

The man has responded to trolls online.

Quote tweeting ESPN's clip, Chris said: "DEAR COMMENT SECTION: I KNOW SHE’S OUT OF MY LEAGUE. I AM JUST HAPPY TO BE HERE."

Many people on Twitter have praised Chris in their comments on the post.

One person said: "Came here to say this, congrats from one proud 'how did he get her' guy to another."

A second added: "You’re not out of her league don’t let people be mean to you bro. Seems like y’all both have real love for eachother enjoy your moment king."

And a third simply said: "W."
