Mom gives critical warning to parents after child's face 'melts off' in horrific accident

The five-year-old let out 'a blood curdling scream'

A shocked mother has opened up about the freak accident that left her five-year-old's skin 'melting off' - with the tot requiring surgery.

Amber Peters had been in her bedroom doing laundry while her daughter Brixx Lee was playing with her other siblings on April 5.

Brixx ran through the kitchen to chase her brother, with the youngster bumping into her eldest sibling, 12-year-old Nahla Peters, getting a bowl of 'hot' ramen out of the microwave.

This accidentally spilled over her head, which left Amber hearing a 'blood curdling' scream from downstairs.

The 34-year-old ran downstairs to see what was going on and she quickly discovered her daughter's skin 'melting off' her face.

Amber, from Joplin in Missouri, said: "Brixx ran into my 12-year-old daughter Nahla, which caused her to drop the ramen and it spilt on top of her head and down the right side of her face and her ear.

"The ramen had just come out of the microwave and it was basically like pure soup and hot water.

"Nahla screamed and then I heard a blood curdling scream come from my five-year-old and a cry and you never hear this sound unless they are badly hurt.

"When I heard this, I jumped up and ran in there and I found her in pure pain and screaming. I looked at her skin and it had already started to melt off her face."

The mom immediately called 911 and Brixx was taken to hospital via ambulance to their local ER where she was given pain medication and sedated.

"They immediately sedated her so she could not feel anything. As a parent you don't want your kid to be in any pain," Amber added.

"They then did a debridement. This is where they remove all the dead skin so that they can look at the new skin underneath to see how bad the burns were.

"She has second degree burns and then they said based on how she heals this will depend on if she will need a skin graft but we are hoping she won't."

The young girl was sent home on April 6, but her injuries worsened to the point where her eyes were swollen shut the next morning.

Brixx was then rushed back to hospital where she underwent a CAT scan.

It showed she had suffered significant facial tissue damage.

The young girl has since undergone surgery, and Amber is now issuing a warning to other parents.

She said: "I want to tell them to not blame themselves as accidents happen every day but I do want to say to just be more wary of even the smallest things that can transpire in the blink of an eye."
