First In-N-Out Burger in Idaho sees eight-hour lines on opening day

Idaho's first In-N-Out Burger is seeing lines of up to eight hours as people see what all the hype is about.

It's official - In-N-Out Burger has finally opened in the hills of Idaho!

The famous fast food restaurant has hundreds of locations around the US and is known for its double-double burgers and 'animal style' fries.

On Tuesday (December 12), the chain opened the doors to its first Idaho restaurant, located in Meridian, a suburb of Boise.

And locals were clearly excited for its arrival, with some camping overnight in 30-degree weather to be the first to try the menu.

In fact, so many people turned out for the burger joints' opening day that the drive-thru line ended up starting in a nearby lot, accompanied by a sign warning customers that they'd be waiting in their cars for up to eight hours before being served.

But thousands decided to take the plunge and withstand the hours-long wait. Feels a little extreme for a burger and fries, but okay...

One patient customer told Idaho6News that they'd been waiting for 'twenty years' for In-N-Out to come to the state.

Another said: "Listen I've been hopeful for a long time, I have been waiting for years. I actually drove by here about a month ago, and took a picture of the store with the chain link still up."

Some dedicated fans even braved the long lines multiple times to try everything the menu had to offer.

"I've been here since 8:15. This is my third time through the line. So now the line is quite a bit longer but, pretty great. Already had the double-double. Now going back for a shake and maybe an animal-style fry," one fan told reporters.

The Idaho location is In-N-Out Burger's 400th restaurant. While most stores currently sit on the West Coast, the chain has plans to expand into Tennessee and New Mexico over the next few years.

In other fast food news, earlier this year Kris Jenner was ruthlessly mocked for having no idea how much a meal at In-N-Out costs.

In an episode of The Kardashians, the momager, 67, visited the restaurant with daughters Kim and Khloe after plans to head to Las Vegas for Kim's birthday were ruined by bad weather conditions.

Mum-of-six Kris ruffled through her purse as she told Khloe she 'had some money' to pay for the food, before pulling out $300 in cash.

Khloe was quick to mock her mother after seeing how much money she was willing to hand over to her for the food order and said: “I don’t know how the f**k you have never been to a fast-food restaurant."
