Actor Ellen Barkin Said Johnny Depp Was A 'Controlling And Jealous' Boyfriend

The couple dated in the 90s and she claims he used to drink a lot

Johnny Depp's ex-girlfriend claims that he was a 'jealous and controlling' man during their relationship.

Actor Ellen Barkin testified during Depp's defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, this week and spoke about what he was like when they were dating.

She said that she met the Pirates of The Caribbean star in 1990 and they began dating four years later.

Barkin claimed during that time he was smoking weed, took a lot of cocaine and was 'drunk a lot'.

She also recalled an altercation between Depp and a friend in a hotel room in Las Vegas, claiming he threw a wine bottle across the room.

While it didn't hit anyone, Barkin said he threw it in her direction.

"He's just a jealous man, controlling," she said. "'Where are you going? Who are you going with? What did you do last night?'

"I had a scratch on my back once that got him very, very angry because he insisted that it came from me having sex with a person who wasn't him."

Barkin's comments come after Heard claimed during her testimony that Depp had thrown bottles at her in the past.

She also claimed that Depp sexually assaulted her with one.

Heard recalled: "The next thing I remember, I was bent over backwards on the bar, meaning my chest was up. I was staring at the blue light. My back is on the countertop and I thought he was punching me.

"I felt this pressure on my pubic bone. I thought he was punching me.

"I could feel his arm moving and it looked like he was punching me. But I could just feel this pressure.”

Depp denies being abusive to his ex-wife, Amber Heard.

She added: "I remember not wanting to move because I didn’t know if it was broken – I didn’t know if the bottle that he had inside me was broken.

"I couldn’t feel it. I didn’t feel pain. I didn’t feel pain. I didn’t feel anything. ... I looked around and I saw so much broken glass... I just remember thinking, 'Please God, please. I hope it’s not broken'."

However, Depp alleges that he never hit Heard and that it was him who was the victim of domestic abuse.

The actor told the court that Heard wold put cigarettes out on him and once threw a bottle of vodka at him, severing his finger.

Depp said he’d initially lied to medical staff, stating: “I lied because I didn't want to disclose that it had been Ms. Heard that had thrown a vodka bottle at me and then took my finger off. I didn't want to get her in trouble...

"I tried to just keep things as copacetic and as easy as possible for everything. I did not want to put her name in that mix."
