Bruce Willis Diagnosed With Aphasia And Is Retiring From Acting

Bruce Willis will be retiring from acting and has been diagnosed with aphasia.

Bruce Willis' daughter Rumer has shared that her father has been diagnosed with aphasia and that he will be stepping away from his career.

Sharing a photo of her father to Instagram, Rumer noted that 'Bruce has been experiencing some health issues' and was diagnosed with the condition, which has impacted his cognitive abilities.

The Unbreakable actor has earned numerous awards throughout his career, which started off-broadway in the 1970s.

Rumer said: "To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities."

Aphasia is a condition that can impact a person's ability to speak and understand language, both written and verbal, as per the Mayo Clinic.

The condition can come on following a stroke, head injury, or can gradually progress.

Rumer continued to say: "As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him."

Willis has starred in a number of successful films over his lengthy career, including Die Hard, which remains a firm favourite among fans.

Following in her father and mother, Demi Moore's, footsteps - Rumer also became an actress.

She went on to add in her post that this is a 'really challenging time' for the family and they are 'so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support'.

The Sorority Row actress went on to say that the family are moving through this difficult time as a strong unit and that they wanted to let fans know as they 'know how much he means' to them.

"As Bruce always says, 'Live it up' and together we plan to do just that. Love, Emma, Demi, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, & Evelyn," Rumer ended the post.

People quickly began to share their support for the family on social media, with one user commenting: "All love, grateful for all his awesome films all these years , what a lucky man to have you all there to support him xx"

Another added: "Sending love to you, Bruce and your beautiful family."

During the pandemic, Bruce's blended family, which includes his ex-wife Demi Moore, current wife Emma Heming and their children, lived together at the family compound in Idaho.

Speaking on their family unit on International Women's Day, Moore said of Hemming: "Our children are sisters and yet there is no name for what our family connection is to one another.

"We are mothers united, sisters bonded on this crazy adventure of life."
