Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline has spoken out about his kids' relationship with their mother.

Following a relationship in the spotlight, Kevin and Britney got married in October 2004 and went on to have two children together, Sean and Jayden. The pair split up in July 2007, and now the father has broken his decade-long silence to say that the kids have decided not to see their mother during this 'tough' time.

Kevin was granted sole custody of the children in 2006, with Britney being put under a conservatorship in 2008 — a restrictive arrangement controlling Britney's financial and personal life that would stay in place until November 2021.

Since the conservatorship ended, Britney has become incredibly active on social media, using it as a platform to talk about her experiences.

However, in a new interview with ITV titled Mr. Spears, which airs this coming week, Kevin described his kids' relationship with their mother, saying "The boys have decided they are not seeing her right now."

He added that the boys didn't attend Britney's recent nuptials with Sam Asghari: "It's been a few months since they've seen her. They made the decision not to go to her wedding."

Kevin, who has two daughters with his current wife, professional volleyball player Victoria Prince, says that it's not been an easy time for their family.

"This whole thing has been hard to watch, harder to live through, harder to watch my boys go through than anything else.

"It's been tough. It's the most challenging thing I've ever had to do in my life."

He went on to say that the boys love their mother and explained to them that her recent nude social media posts were her way of expressing herself.

"I try to explain to them, 'Look, maybe that's just another way she tries to express herself.' But that doesn't take away from the fact of what it does to them. It's tough."

He added: "I can't imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school."

Britney has since responded to Kevin's comments, writing on her Instagram stories: "It saddens me to hear that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children ... As we all know, raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone ... it concerns me the fact that the reason is based on my Instagram ... I gave them everything ... Only one word: HURTFUL ... I'll say it ... My mother told me "You should GIVE them to their dad" ... I'm sharing this because I can ... Have a good day folks !!!"

Kevin is yet to respond to Britney's comments.
