Anne Heche representative provides statement after actor's death

Tributes have been flooding following her tragic death this week

Tributes have continued to flood in following the tragic death of actor Anne Heche who died this week at just 53, with the company behind her podcast Better Together with Anne & Heather now issuing a statement.

Heche launched the podcast alongside Heather Duffy via Straw Hut Media, back in 2020 - a podcast where the pair would ‘celebrate friendship’ and ‘create more joy in the world by sharing our stories, stumbles, and triumphs’.

Now, Straw Hut Media co-founder and CEO Ryan Tillotson has released a statement in which he’s poured praise on Heche and said his ‘heart hurts’.

He wrote: “This week, the Straw Hut Media family lost someone irreplaceable. More than a beloved host, Anne was my friend, collaborator, and a damn good actress. Anne added life to every room she entered with her tremendous energy and welcoming presence.

“I will remember her most for her big heart, her commitment to the people she loved, and the fearless way she fought for what she believed in. Better Together wasn’t just a podcast, it was a belief system. She believed the best way to grow and improve yourself was to talk openly and share stories. We’re committed to continuing her legacy in that way.

“It’s surreal to think I’ll no longer be seeing her every week. Los Angeles is a quieter and sadder place without her; I can feel it. My heart hurts. I love you, Anne. Please send all your love and support to her two boys, Atlas and Homer, and the rest of her chosen family.”

Yesterday (12 August) Heche’s family shared the heartbreaking news that the star had passed away but that they would be keeping her on life support to give medical staff time to determine whether her organs would be suitable for donation as it had 'long been her choice' to donate her organs after she died.

"Today we lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend," a representative for the star told NBC News in a statement on behalf of Heche's family and friends.

They said: "Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy. Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact."
