American Woman Hilariously Reacts To Seeing Something On British TV They Don't Have Back Home

The TikToker made clear there are some big differences between British TV and American TV.

An American woman who is now living in the UK has replayed her hilarious reaction to the first time she saw explicit content on British TV.

Between the nudity in Naked Attraction and the expletives that ring out in shows like The Inbetweeners, I think it's fair to say British television, after the 9pm watershed, is a land where pretty much anything goes.

The same cannot be said, however, for American television, where broadcasting and censorship protocols are strictly regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). As a result, American TikToker @yorkshirepeach was naturally very startled when she learned about the wonders of British TV.

Check out her reaction below:

In the clip, captioned 'I WAS SHOOKETH', the TikToker presented a series of surprising television moments, only to learn from a Brit that they weren't that surprising after all.

The list includes 'a boob', the F-word and a penis, which apparently popped up – not literally – on Naked Attraction.

Describing the reality dating show, the TikToker said: 'They've just shown a [penis]. There's a whole show, and before you date somebody, you see [everything].'

Unfortunately even the full-frontal male nudity wasn't enough to shock the Brit, with @yorkshirepeach becoming visibly deflated as she learned the show had 'been around for ages'.

According to an article from Politics at NYU, the FCC only allows 'indecent and profane content' during the hours of 10pm-6am, while 'obscene content is not allowed in any circumstances'.

The article adds that Naked Attraction 'would be considered without a doubt obscene by the FCC', and that 'obscenity is not protected under the First Amendment', meaning the FCC can ban anything ruled to be 'obscene' from cable, satellite, and broadcast TV and radio.

Television isn't the only thing to have surprised the TikToker following her move to the UK, with other videos revealing that she has also been stumped by British slang, the amount of alcohol Brits manage to consume, and – of course – the weather.

The TikToker has racked up more than 100,000 views for her reaction to British TV, after which she responded to one commenter to explain that while HBO or Netflix might offer some nudity in the US, 'normally telly has NONE of that'.

Other viewers have expressed their shock at her surprise, with one person questioning: 'Hahaha do they not show any of those things on American tv?? Wow really?'

It can be easy to forget all the weird and wonderful things about living in the UK when you've been here for too long, but at least we have @yorkshirepeach to present it all through fresh eyes!
