American Shares The NSFW British Insults She’d Never Heard Before

While the US might look similar to the UK on the outside, there are some key cultural differences that set us apart – including insults.

An American TikToker has opened up about the NSFW British insults she’d never heard before relocating to the UK.

While the US of A might look almost the same as the UK on the outside, there are some key cultural differences that set us apart.

And perhaps no one is better at identifying these differences than Lisa Dollan, who goes by the name @yorkshirepeach on TikTok, on which she’s amassed more than 900,000 followers with her hilarious insights as a 'Georgia Peach living in Yorkshire'.

In one of her videos, Lisa highlights some of the best British insults she’s come across since living in Blighty, the first up being the all-time classic ‘w*nker’.

Laughing at the word, she asks, ‘Do I say it weird? I can't get away with saying it can I?’ You say it just fine, Lisa.

If you’re from across the pond and you’ve never heard it used as an insult before, w*nker, while technically meaning someone who masturbates, is basically just another way to call someone a d*ckhead. You dig?

This brings us onto Lisa’s next word: bellend, to which she says, ‘Why did it take me literally like three years to realise what it even meant? I didn't even understand... I never heard that before I moved here. It's funny when you think about it, isn't it?’

It certainly is – again, if you have no idea what this word means, bellend means the top of a penis and it’s also another way to say, well, w*nker.

Last but definitely not least on the list is ‘wet lettuce’ – granted, this definitely isn’t as insulting as the other two, but you still wouldn’t want to be described as one.

Why? We’ll let Lisa explain: ‘Maybe it's just me but I never that before I move here, but it's so perfect. Think, have you ever thought it through? How bad is wet lettuce? Has someone ever served you a salad and it's a bit soggy, there's nothing worse than a soggy salad is there?’

The TikToker’s many followers were quick to offer up their own favourite British insults, including this person who wrote, ‘I call people tosspots.’ We share that in common, then.

Others on the list include, but are not limited to, ‘plonker’, ‘plank’, ‘helmet’ (related to bellend, FYI), ‘tosser’, ‘plant pot’, ‘spanner’ and ‘doughnut’.

One commenter put it perfectly when they said, ‘I swear we use everything as an insult except the main insults’ – it seems the UK likes to get creative when it comes to banter.
