Joe Biden was given no doubt about whether he had the support of one particular Iowa resident recently when it decided to take a poo on him right in the middle of one of the President's speeches.

This wasn't an angry Republican voter or a disgruntled Democrat unhappy at the President's tenure, however, but a bird, who picked its spot incredibly well to drop a well-placed blob of white faeces on Biden's suit during the middle of a speech about inflation and the economy.

Biden in Menlo, Iowa speaking in what TMZ said he described as a barn of some sort, and was focusing on infrastructure, inflation and how he was going to work out a way to lower costs for Americans.

It's to the American leader's great credit that he carried on unflinchingly despite the foul interruption and indeed it seemed like very few in attendance even noticed the incident.

Unfortunately plenty at home did, and the clip has now of course gone viral.

With things tough both at home and abroad for Biden, a bird forcing him to have to go to the dry cleaners is probably the least of Biden's worries.

As Vladimir Putin continues to wage war on Ukraine, the US President came out to call what he was doing in the country 'genocide' for the first time.

Speaking at the same event in Iowa, the POTUS said: “Your family budget, your ability to fill up your tank, none of it should hinge on whether a dictator declares war and commits genocide half a world away.”

When asked by journalists later on about the comment, Biden told them: “I called it genocide because it’s become clearer and clearer that Putin is just trying to wipe out the idea of even being Ukrainian.”

He added: “And the evidence is mounting. More evidence is coming out of the horrible things that the Russians have done in Ukraine.

“And we’re going to only learn more and more about the devastation. We’ll let the lawyers decide internationally whether or not it qualifies, but it sure seems that way to me.”

As fighting in the Ukraine focuses on the East, there have been unverified reports that Russia have used chemical weapons in the beleaguered city of Mariupol, with numerous other alleged atrocities coming to light as the war moves towards a third month.
