A state's cannabis regulatory agency has revealed sales of marijuana hit new highs on 4/20 this year.
4/20 simply wouldn't be being done properly if sales didn't skyrocket, and one particular US state certainly didn't disappoint.
While the day passed by unnoticed by some, others were quick to head to their nearest marijuana retailers to stock up for the unofficial celebratory day on Wednesday, 20 April.

In Michigan, retailers sold more than 2.3 tons (4,600 pounds) of marijuana flower, according to Andrew Brisbo, executive director of the state's Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA).
His tweet read: "Consumers purchased over 2.3 tons of marijuana flower in MI retailers yesterday.
"Initial data shows overall sales of flower on 4/20 in 2022 were up 242% from the same day in 2021 (which were up 444% vs 2020)."
Comparing data from last year and 2020, Brisbo stated 430 lbs of flower was sold on 4/20 in the year 2020, compared to 1,912 lbs in 2021 and a whopping 4,619 in 2022.

From 2021, daily sales by weight have subsequently risen by 242 per cent, and 444 per cent from 2020.
The total marijuana product sales came to $3,670,832 in 2020, $10,696,653 in 2021 and a mega $15,558,079 in 2022.
Brisbo reflected: "Overall, sales continue to increase despite significant price decreases year over year."
Statistical data provided by the CRA based on 250 business days in the year revealed average marijuana sales in Michigan in 2021 stood at 744.5 pounds with each pound costing $3,503.

According to American leading cannabis company Red White & Bloom, 'during February, Michigan cannabis increased 160% from a year ago to $105.2M'.
"The Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency reports medical sales improved 48% from a year ago to $38.1M and adult-use sales soared 353% to $67.1M," it continued.
While CRA spokesperson David Harns explained it's impossible to truly determine whether this year's 4/20 sales were an all-time daily record because of the agency not regularly looking at sales figures per day outside of 20 April, he concluded 'it's likely a safe assumption'.

Since last year, an extra 40,000 vaping cartridges have also been sold, amounting to a total of 140,000 sales.
