Police Are Threatening To Use Nickleback’s Music As ‘Torture’

The Kensington Police Department has come up with a rather unusual deterrent for drink-driving this Christmas. 

The Canadian cops on Prince Edward Island have warned Christmas revellers that, should they make the bad decision to drink and drive over the festive period, they should brace for the ‘Nickelback treatment’.

The master plan is the brainchild of Const. Robb Hartlen who is in charge of the department’s social media – as well as their practical joke quota, apparently.

The plot plays on Nickelback’s widespread unpopularity among rock and metal communities, not only in their home country of Canada, but worldwide.

Hartlen wrote:

…the Kensington Police Service will be out for the remainder of the year looking for those dumb enough to feel they can drink and drive.

And when we catch you, and we will catch you, on top of a hefty fine, a criminal charge and a year’s driving suspension we will also provide you with a bonus gift of playing the office’s copy of Nickelback in the cruiser on the way to jail.

Now, now, no need to thank us, we figure if you are foolish enough to get behind the wheel after drinking then a little Chad Kroeger and the boys is the perfect gift for you.

So please, let’s not ruin a perfectly good unopened copy of Nickelback. You don’t drink and drive and we won’t make you listen to it.

Not only is Hartlen’s threat a great way to break down the barriers between a seemingly stoic police department and the public, it’s also – more importantly – a brilliant ploy to encourage road safety over Christmas.
