Anthony Hopkins’ Malibu Home Left Completely Untouched By Wildfires

Anthony Hopkins’ Malibu home was, incredibly, left untouched by the California wildfires.

The Woolsey fire has been tearing through southern California, burning across more than 98,000 acres, and destroying more than 500 structures.

According to CNN, two people have lost their lives to the fire while police are investigating whether a third person, found in a burned home in Agoura Hills, was also killed because of the flames.

However, the wildfire completely avoided Hopkins’ beachfront mansion, despite destroying his next door neighbour’s home right down to the foundations, as well as leaving the ground around the actor’s property black and ravaged.

Creating a surreal picture of peace amid the chaos, the Silence of the Lambs star’s two garden chairs even remained standing and in tact, overlooking the ocean in the middle of his perfectly green back garden.

Thanks to the hard work of the firefighters, the Woolsey fire is now said to be 62 per cent contained.

Pierce Brosnan’s California home also narrowly missed being torched by the wildfire, though other celebrities, like Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke and Gerard Butler, weren’t so fortunate.

Liam Hemsworth shared a picture of his and partner Miley’s home to Instagram, showing the horrendous effects of the fire:

GoldenEye actor Brosnan appeared at the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday (November 13), to show his support for the fight against the wildfires, CBS report.

He spoke at the event, explaining he’d never seen anything like the fires in his 35 years living in Malibu.

God bless Malibu … November 9th 2018

The actor said:

My wife and I are here today, speaking on behalf of friends, mothers, children, to give voice to their pain and their destitution on this day.

I have witnessed many fires in my community and personally experienced the devastation of those fires up close and personal.

But none as catastrophic as the events that have taken place in our community these past five days and nights.

He continued:

The lives of many family, friends, and neighbours have been turned to ash, and many cannot be with us today because they are fighting to protect their homes.

They simply cannot get out as they fight to survive without water, electricity, food, gas, and – in some cases – shelter.

We have watched as our firefighters and police force have battled with overwhelming courage of heart and conviction to save our homes and our lives in conditions that have tested their resolve to the limits.

Despite losing their home to the fire, Miley and Liam donated $500,000 (£390,900) to The Malibu Foundation through the singer’s charity, The Happy Hippie Foundation.

A representative told Associated Press:

Miley and Liam lost their home but are very grateful to be safe along with their animals.

Their community and state are very special to them and they want to give back to the place that has created so many beautiful memories for themselves and others.

Butte County Sheriff and Coroner Kory Honea said on Thursday evening (November 15) the death toll from the Camp Fire in northern California had grown to 63 people.

All those working to help victims and prevent the fires are doing an incredible job; our thoughts are with all those affected.
