Will Smith Asked Jada To Be On Set For His Kissing Scenes In Seven Pounds

The actor said he was 'trying to be respectful'

Will Smith has made a lot of headlines lately, after he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars over a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

The couple's relationship often comes under the microscope, with the pair regularly opening up about the boundaries in their relationship, and even their sex life.

But while they've previously said they have an open marriage, Will is seemingly not open to filming intimate scenes without his other half present.

Will Smith apparently asked Jada to be present for kissing scenes in Seven Pounds.

His Seven Pounds co-star Rosario Dawson said the actor asked for Jada to be there on set for their kissing scene - which you'd think might be a little awkward for all parties.

Dawson said Smith kept pushing back the scene, to the point she was getting paranoid.

Speaking to Access Hollywood in 2008, she said: "Here is the guy who was pushing our kiss to like the end and the end and the end of the schedule.

"So the point was like, 'OK, I know I don't smell bad… I know I brushed my teeth…I did the deodorant!'"

Eventually, she said she had to try and coax Big Willie into the smooch.

Recounting a conversation with her co-star, she said: "You are just nervous. You're nervous about kissing me. Don't worry baby, I'll be gentle."

Dawson thought Smith was nervous about the scene.

Apparently this wasn't enough though, and he wanted his missus to be there for the scene - and it sounds like she was very encouraging.

Dawson said: "He wanted Jada to be on set, and she was letting him know, 'Baby you really need to bring it! Don't embarrass me.'

"So, she was on my side on this one."

Ultimately, he ended up going to town - according to Dawson.

She said: "There was lots of tongue.

"I mean, I got permission from Jada, I got permission from Jada!"

When Access Hollywood put Dawson's account to Smith he initially denied it, before sharing his version of events.

He said: "That’s a lie... Alright, that's a little bit true. I like being respectful."

He went on to claim it wasn't nerves holding him back.

"I wasn't scared. I was trying to be respectful," he said.

"I told Jada, 'I feel a little uncomfortable,' and she was like, 'Boy, listen!' She was like, 'Don't you embarrass me! You better get on that screen and show them what you are working with!'"
