Fans have chilling theory about Jude Law’s character in The Holiday

Fans have wild theory about the festive favourite The Holiday

As Christmas fast approaches, fans of the festive classic The Holiday have decided to put a bit of a dampener on this year's holiday season with an incredibly chilling theory about one of the main characters.

As we snuggle on the couch ready a festive TV marathon, there's quite a few Christmas movies that have fans tuning in each year to watch, with The Holiday certainly being one of them.

Watching The Holiday around Christmas time is seen as an annual tradition for many, a right of passage for the winter nights.

With the storyline pulling at our heart strings, many rom-com fans look to the feel-good film to feel optimistic about the New Year.

And it kind of works, am I right?

One storyline fans are particularly fond of in the hit 2006 film is the on screen romance between Jude Law's character, Graham, and Cameron Diaz, who plays the unlucky-in-love Amanda.

Amanda, who finds out her partner has been unfaithful, books a 'house swap' getaway to the UK to try and get over him in a little quaint cottage belonging to Kate Winslet's just as unlucky-in-love character, Iris - who happens to be Graham's sister.

While Law plays the 'dashing British bachelor who wasn't looking for love but stumbled across it when least expected', he (of course) ends up falling head over heels with Amanda.

It's cute, it's innocent, and it gets us every single time.

Well, except a fan theory that's took the internet by storm this week has put into question the motive of the iconic paring.

A popular fan theory on Reddit is that the reason why Graham comes across as the sweetest man ever is simply because he killed his first wife, and is devising a plan to kill Amanda, too.

Pretty dark, I know.

Kate Winslet and Jack Black also star in the festive classic.

The theory is: "Jude Law already murdered his first wife so he could inherit her house. Now he and his sister have used the house swap scheme to get Cameron Diaz into their town while Kate Winslet can investigate and make sure Cameron has enough money and property (and no family/entanglements) to be worth the effort of seducing her and then disposing of her.

"Kate is so overjoyed to see how grand and luxurious Cameron's house is because she knows she and Jude have hit the jackpot.

"Meanwhile, Jude carefully sets up an 'accidental' meeting and manipulates Cameron to develop a relationship and get his claws into her. Everything that follows is orchestrated to carry out their plot."

That's it, Christmas is ruined...
