Netflix has released a video showing Jamie Campbell Bower's epic transformation into Stranger Things’ new villain Vecna.
Ever since season four dropped on the streamer, fans have been raving about the 33-year-old star’s turn as the latest big bad of the show – especially with the almighty revelation at the end of episode seven (if you know, you know).
But transforming into the humanoid monster with moveable veins was no mean feat, especially since showrunner brothers Matt and Ross Duffer were determined to go back to the era in which the show is set by using real prosthetics.

They even enlisted the help of prosthetics legend Barrie Gower, who said the suit took around six to seven hours to assemble. You can check out a sped-up version of the process below:
As you can see, Bower is casually sitting there enjoying a cuppa and scrolling through his phone as they assemble the costume piece by piece.
It’s safe to say that fans are impressed, with many commenting on the clip shared by Netflix’s Stranger Things Instagram account.

“Damn I knew he was Vecna but he actually played him??? The dedication,” wrote one.
Another said, “Can't believe this wasn't CGI??? These makeup artists and designers are so talented that's insane.”
Others were amused at seeing such a terrifying character just casually going about his day, including this person who said: “Vecna tweeting his updates in the Upside Down.”
“I bet vecna has a 20-step skincare routine,” quipped another, while a third added, “Vecna with his Starbucks.”

Last month, Gower – who’s worked on a range of big name titles including 28 Days Later and Game of Thrones – said he utilised numerous techniques that were pioneered back in the 80s to create the villain.
And to achieve Vecna’s slimy look, the team had to use a rather NSFW ingredient… lube.
Speaking with The Verge, he said: “On the day he has to be super slimy, so we use products like K-Y Jelly. There’s a product called UltraWet, which is kind of like a clear gel that we’d slather all over him.
“It’s the kind of thing where on set you’d put your hand on his shoulder and regret you did it because you’re covered in slime.”

Well, it was all worth it in the end – and now fans can’t wait to see what Vecna’s got in store for the crew in volume two.
