Lance Reddick fans have been left in tears after catching a glimpse of the late actor in one of his final roles, following the release of the trailer for Percy Jackson and The Olympians.

Watch Reddick in action in the trailer here:

The 60-year-old John Wick star died earlier this year, with his publicist saying in a statement at the time: "Lance will be greatly missed.”

Reddick – whose cause of death was later confirmed to be heart disease – had been in the middle of a press tour for the fourth instalment of the John Wick franchise, in which he played Charon the concierge at the Continental Hotel in New York City.

His passing also came not long after filming wrapped for the TV series Percy Jackson and The Olympians, in which he stars as god of the sky Zeus.

A synopsis for the new show, which debuts with a two-episode premiere on Disney Plus on 20 December, says: “Percy Jackson and The Olympians tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.”

With three months to go, Disney released a brand new teaser trailer for the series today (19 September).

And while many fans are excited for it to land on the streaming service, many people were distracted by Reddick’s brief appearance – noting it is one of his last performances we’ll see.

One person commented: “LIKE PLS I AM SOBBING Also rip Lance Reddick you absolute LEGEND cant wait to see his performance.”

Someone else said: “So sad that this is gonna be one of the last performances we see from Lance, but I’m excited to see him in this role.”

A third wrote: “Did I cry seeing Lance Reddick in the Percy Jackson trailer? Yes, yes I did Life isn't fair.”

Another said: “Rest in peace, Lance.”

A fifth added: “We never forget you. Rest in peace Lance Reddick.”

Other titles Reddick is set to feature in posthumously also include films The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, Shirley, and Ballerina.
