Fans raving about new indie-horror film that scored 100% on Rotten Tomatoes

The latest horror film to hit cinemas has been met with rave reviews, and scored very highly on Rotten Tomatoes

A new independent horror movie has achieved a rare perfect score on reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

This happens only to a small proportion of the films on there, and can be influenced by a lot of factors.

With critics, this reflects the number of reviews of the movie which were positive and negative on the whole.

Movies which have had 100 percent positive reviews have sometimes seen that broken deliberately, when a film critic purposely publishes a negative review solely for that purpose.

It's also worth noting the number of reviews as well, as obviously the more reviews a film has the more likely one will break the streak.

As for this horror movie, it's called Late Night With the Devil, and managed a streak of 49 positive reviews without a single negative one.

Impressive, though it had a long way to go to beat the current record holder Leave No Trace, which has a 100 percent rating off 252 reviews.

The movie has been very well-received.

Late Night With the Devil follows a live television broadcast which goes horribly wrong when unsettling events begin to take hold.

And fair warning, there are some spoilers for the film below.

Facing cancellation, a TV talk show takes extreme measures to try and boost their ratings and save their show.

Among the guests are a cynic, a psychic, and a 13-year-old girl who has been possessed by a demon.

What could possibly go wrong?

Although it had an impressive streak with 100 percent, the movie has since been knocked off its perch as more reviews have come in.

The movie follows an ill-fated live broadcast.

While it had 100 percent at 49 reviews, it now has 112 reviews and has dropped to 96 percent.

To be fair, that is still a phenomenally good score on the site, and it's worth noting that it's in good company in being knocked off a perfect rating.

No less a movie than Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece Citizen Kane held a rating of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, until 2021.

An 80-year-old negative review of the movie, widely regarded as one of the greatest ever made, was rediscovered and registered on the site taking it to 99 percent.

Another movie which achieved near universal acclaim was Paddington 2. The sequel about the beloved bear was at one point the most-reviewed film with a 100 score, but in 2021, which was clearly a bad year for this, it lost its 100 percent rating after reviewer Eddie Harrison published a negative article.
