Netflix subscribers are so obsessed with a 'sexy and intriguing' crime series, they've spent hundreds of millions of hours watching it.

The streaming service is home to thousands of titles, from binge-worthy dramas to heart-breaking masterpieces.

Fans particularly enjoy Netflix's range of crime dramas - but there's a good chance you might have overlooked this one.

The series, praised for its twists and turns, ran for three seasons between 2021 and 2022.

And its first series racked up an astonishing 392.4 million hours watched, placing it at number nine on Netflix's non-English TV charts - just behind Lupin: Part 2 and La Palma.

The Mexican mystery thriller follows a man named Álex Guzmán (Leo Deluglio), who is wrongfully imprisoned for the murder of his younger sister, Sara (Ximena Lamadrid).

After spending 18 years behind bars, Álex is released and sets out to uncover the truth about who actually killed her - and to take revenge on those who framed him.

The series in question is called Who Killed Sara, and you can watch its trailer below:

Over on Rotten Tomatoes - where its debut season was awarded 86 percent by critics -, fans left scores of rave reviews.

"Amazing first season!! I binged the entire season in 48 hours," one confessed, as a second agreed: "This show is filled with wild twists and turns. Each time you think you have it figured out something comes out to flip that theory on its head!

"I typically only enjoy horror but this has opened my eyes to a new genre!"

A third weighed in: "I sat for two days captivated by this [show]. One of the best I have seen in years. Just when you think you have it figured out. You are wrong! This is a must see."

A fourth penned: "Sexy and intriguing. So many scandalous reveals as the show progresses."

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the praise continued, but many expressed their need for another instalment.

"Man we need season 4 Who Killed Sara", one wrote, as a second echoed: "I need a season 4 of Who Killed Sara!"

Although the series wasn't canceled, it did end after its third season.

Both its creators and Netflix decided the story had reached its natural conclusion, Digital Spy reported.

And while there was no scope for a spin-off, either, the show's creator José Ignacio Valenzuela went on to produce two more series with the network as part of a three-year deal he signed in 2021.

These include 2022's High Heat (Donde Hubo Fuego), which might only have only run for one series but is made up of 39 episodes - yes, you read that right!

The drama follows Poncho, who infiltrates a fire station to investigate his brother's murder.

Then came 2024's Sisters' Feud (Las Hermanas Guerra), which only released last year and focuses on a woman who refuses to join her sister's twisted scheme, sparking betrayal and revenge as she tries to reunite with her long-lost daughter.

All three seasons of Who Killed Sara are streaming now on Netflix.
