In a statement, she said: "It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.

"She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known."

As you'd expect, the terrible news brought floods of tributes for Lisa Marie from the whole of the industry and even outside.

One of the more recent ones comes from her daughter Riley Keough who has posted a fitting tribute to her Instagram account.

The 33-year-old posted a black-and-white photograph of her younger self looking up to her mother while holding a bunch of flowers in her hand.

There were no words from Riley on the post as she simply captioned the photo with a heart emoji.

The post has been liked over 170,000 on Instagram, with many fans and celebs offering their condolences.

Actor Devery Jacobs said: "I’m so sorry, this is such a profound loss. Sending you and your family so much love and strength."

The tribute was posted to Instagram.

A third fan remarked: "I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. May all of the wonderful memories of your mama help you through these difficult times."

Meanwhile, a fourth added: "I’m so sorry love. I can’t imagine the pain. May her memories be a blessing…."

Many famous faces have also offered their condolences to the Lisa Marie's family, including Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson, who spent time with the Presley family while working on Elvis.

Wilson said: "Tom and I had spent some time with the family during the Elvis movie promotional tour.

"Lisa was so honest and direct, vulnerable, in a state of anticipation about the movie.

"She spoke so eloquently about her father, what the movie meant to her, that it was a celebration of her dad.

"She had her gorgeous daughters Finley and Harper with her who made us all laugh."

"She privately showed us her home, Graceland, and she made it feel like home to us. She was so gracious to us, Austin [Butler], Baz [Luhrmann], and guests."
