Fans, get ready: Keanu Reeves is set to take on the role as Batman for an upcoming DC film.

The Matrix actor will work alongside a star-studded cast including Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Thomas Middleditch, and Ben Schwartz.

Not bad, eh?

The animation film is titled DC League Of Super Pets, and you can watch the trailer below:

I mean, it goes without saying that the animated film won't quite be like the new hard-hitting The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson.

However, you might be glad to know that the deep-toned voice looks to be featuring throughout the flick.

As shown in the trailer above, the clip opens with Batman telling his dog Ace (voiced by Kevin Hart): 'I'm not really great with animals...'

'Yeah. I'm not really great with people, probably because of my traumatic puppyhood,' replies the pooch.

Director/screenwriter Jared Stern said: 'It was really cool pitching to [DC publisher] Jim Lee.

'I read his X-Men comics growing up and it was just super intimidating, and ended up being the opposite because they were like, 'This is awesome! This is fun! We love this as a way into our characters.

'They were like, 'Hey, have you thought about this guy being in the movie?' and I was like, 'No, that would be great!' It just kind of expanded from there.

'I think I was just a little bit conservative about how much of it I was using in the pitch.

'If anything, I was able to let it explode into that world.'

DC

The official synopsis reads: 'Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime side by side in Metropolis.

'However, when the Man of Steel and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a ragtag group of animals to master their own newfound powers for a rescue mission.'

The film is set to be released on May 20 in the US, and October 7 in the UK.
