Reddick, best known for his role as Cedric Daniels in The Wire and as Charon in the John Wick franchise, ‘suddenly’ passed away at age 60 on Friday (March 17).

ABC News reported that his publicist Mia Hansen said in a statement that his death was due to natural causes.

His wife, Stephanie, also confirmed the news on her late husband’s social media account while thanking everyone for their condolences and support.

She wrote: “Lance was taken from us far too soon.

“Thank you for all your overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day.

“I see your messages and can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have them.”

She added: “To the thousands of Destiny players who played in special tribute to Lance, thank you. Lance loved you as much as he loved the game.

“Donations may be made to momcares.org in Baltimore, his hometown.”

Reddick's co-star in The Wire, Wendell Pierce, also paid tribute and wrote: “A man of great strength and grace.

"As talented a musician as he was an actor, the epitome of class. A sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family.

“An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend.”

Reddick played Charon, the Continental Hotel concierge, in all four John Wick films.

The official Twitter account for the film wrote: “A kindhearted soul, a wonderful human, and a true friend.

"Be seeing you, Lance Reddick."

The actor also has four films set to be released posthumously, which include the John Wick spin-off thriller Ballerina starring Ana De Armas, and the reboot of White Men Can’t Jump, led by Jack Harlow.

Reddick is survived by his wife, Stephanie, and children, Yvonne Nicole and Christopher.
