John Wick spinoff film with Ana De Armas sets release date

Here's everything we know

John Wick: Chapter 4 has only been out for a matter of weeks, but fans of the franchise are already looking forward to the next chapter.

Recently, John Wick: Chapter 4 grossed a staggering $250 million at the box office, making the flick a real success for its makers just weeks after it was released.

In the fourth instalment, the price on John's head is the highest it's ever been, as he takes the fight to the High Table global.

The film has gained an impressive reception and decent reviews since it hit cinemas, with many fans hungry for more.

Luckily enough, we don't have too long to actually wait for the next dose of John Wick.

The eagerly-awaited spin-off Ballerina now has an official release date from Lionsgate, and it's not too far away.

Ballerina stars Ana de Armas, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne and the late Lance Reddick - who of course starred in Chapter 4 as well.

Also part of the cast is Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and of course, Keanu Reeves.

As for who is in control of the film, Len Wiseman takes the directing chair, while Shay Hatten is in charge of the writing side of the highly-anticipated flick.

Meanwhile, Ballerina is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Chad Stahelski.

De Armas, in particular, is set to play a huge role in the film, as she takes on the role of 'an assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma'.

De Armas has undoubtedly been involved in some of the biggest films of the last few years, and will add to her portfolio with this John Wick spin-off.

Back in January, the actor spoke on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon about filming and working with the legendary Reeves.

She said: "We’ve been in Prague filming for four months. We still have one more month to go. And I’m in pain. You know, my body, my back, everything hurts. I’m complaining, I’m sore, I’m bruised.

"Keanu and I were rehearsing our very difficult stunt scene, and this man is just rolling and throwing me and doing these crazy stunts.

"And I’m like, 'I can’t complain anymore.' Because he is doing it. He truly is the best."

Ballerina will release in cinemas across the world on June 7 2024.
