The Office’s John Krasinski has been on the hunt for some good news amid these uncertain times. Turns out he managed to create the best news himself by reuniting with Steve Carell instead.

That’s right, almost nine years after Michael said his goodbyes and bid The Office an – extremely emotional – farewell, the boys are BACK.

Krasinski made the revelation on a new YouTube channel entitled Some Good News, where he explained that for ‘years now’ he’s been wondering why there isn’t a news show dedicated entirely to good news.

He continued:

Well, desperately seeking my fix somewhere else I reached out to all of you this week, asking – nay, begging – for some good news. And boy did you deliver.

After reading those replies and the incredibly heartwarming stories that came with them, I thought alright, enough is enough world, why not us? Why not now? So… this is [Some Good News].

Krasinski went on to share some good news from around the world, before explaining that the past week brought some good news for himself as it marked 15 years since Jim’s iconic sweeping haircut was born.

The A Quiet Place star introduced his ‘entertainment correspondent’ Carell for more on the story and, to ensure they stuck by good social distancing measures, Carell popped up via video chat.

Though it wasn’t quite Michael hanging around Jim’s desk desperately seeking attention, the scene was just as enjoyable as Carell was joined by his wife Nancy, who played estate agent Carol Stills in The Office.

Krasinski and Carell provided some much-needed entertainment, with Carell correctly calling out Krasinski for wearing a suit on his top half and some much comfier ‘jams’ on his bottom half.

They discussed the 15th anniversary of The Office, with Krasinski recalling how he was just 23 years old and working as a waiter when he got the job.

Carell commented:

It’s such a happy surprise that after all these years people are still tuning in and finding it, even today. It’s pretty cool.

Recalling some of his fondest memories from the show, Carell drew upon what is surely one of the best-loved episodes of the NBC series, Dinner Party, explaining the cast’s ‘exchange around the micro flatscreen TV’ was something he loved.

Krasinski included bloopers from the show, showing himself, Carell, Jenna Fischer (Pam) and Melora Hardin (Jan) breaking character as Michael showed off his tiny plasma screen TV.

Carell went on:

I think most of the memories have to do with things that we shared as a cast, [like] when we were doing Fun Run and it was about 105 degrees outside.

Part of what was so much fun about it was that everybody in the cast was rooting for everybody else. People would step back when it was time for other people to shine.

When you came in as Dwight that day… it was crazy watching Jim do Dwight, you’re a very good impressionist.

As well as sharing their funniest and fondest memories, the pair discussed how emotional the show had been, with Krasinski opening up about the heartbreaking goodbye between Jim and Michael.

The host went on to admit that while fans are continuously hoping for a reunion, he hopes the cast at least get to reunite ‘as people’.

Carell added:

Just to see your face is so great.

The entire exchange was enough to leave fans close to tears – I know, because I’m right there myself – and we can only hope the pair might get together again soon, preferably with the rest of the cast in tow.

There’s no denying Krasinski succeeded in bringing some joy with his good news programme, so hopefully there’ll be plenty more where that came from. Check out the full video here.
