Jennifer Lawrence has no doubt made many movies that may have made an impact on her personally.

And with 36 films under her belt, the American Hustle star has certainly collected a vast category - ranging from huge franchises to small indie pictures.

One particular movie, however, has left a reminder that goes a lot deeper than her memory.

Jennifer Lawrence revealed on Hot Ones that she had health problems as a result of one film.

Mother! was released in 2017 and received mostly negative reviews, with critics slamming the performances and the film's confusing message.

Although she's since defended the film, the Hunger Games star has acknowledged that she barely understood the premise herself.

Nor did she leave the filming unscathed.

Whilst being interview on the YouTube series Hot Ones, Lawrence opened up about an injury that she'd sustained during production.

"I tore my diaphragm and cracked something in my chest. My top rib, it still clicks to this day."

Ouch!

Expanding on how she hurt her diaphragm, Lawrence told the Daily Mail: "I tore my diaphragm from hyperventilating. "People thought I was beaten up, so [I] want to clear it up that I did it to myself. It was my own doing."

And in case you're wondering how one can injure themselves from hyperventilating, then we're in the same boat.

But it's not surprising that this role had Lawrence a bit flustered as the film revolves around Lawrence's pregnant character as she deals with a horde of strangers coming into her home.

Some speculated that her character represented Mother Earth, whilst the invaders in her home represented humans exploiting the planet's natural resources.

Regardless of the true meaning, the film was not well received.

Even Lawrence herself has confessed that she didn't understand the movie herself - despite sleeping with the director, Darren Aronofsky.

Appearing on an episode of Watch What Happens Live, Lawrence was asked by host Andy Cohen: "On a scale of one to totally confused, how much did you understand your film Mother!?"

Lawrence burst into laughter, whilst assuring her interviewer that she'd give a truthful answer.

Between giggles, she said: "I'm going to be honest. Well, I was sleeping with the director, so I had the CliffNotes. So, five. Or four?"

Not a great score admittedly.

Lawrence would later admit that the film's poor reception put a strain on their romance.

Talking to Adam Sandler, she reflected: "I was doing double duty trying to be a supportive partner, while also being like, ‘Can I please, for the love of God, not think about mother! for one second?’

"I finally was just like, ‘It’s not healthy. Neither of us are doing it because if I read it, I start getting defensive.’ Especially because it’s my man.

"It’s awesome, what we did — some people hate it and the people who hate it, really hate it.

"But it’s nothing that needs to be defended and if I read a negative review, I just feel defensive."
