Emilia Clake has admitted that she has not watched House of the Dragon, and it sounds like she has no plans on watching it either.

HBO's prequel series to the popular Game of Thrones took the entertainment industry by storm when it released with its first season last year.

The drama featuring the likes of Milly Alcock, Emma D'Arcy and Matt Smith has even picked up a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Television Series in Drama.

For those unaware, Clarke rose to fame as a result of her role in Game of Thrones with her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen.

She starred in all eight seasons, with her being a favourite amongst many Game of Thrones fans.

During her time on the show, Clarke was nominated for four Emmy Awards and three Critics' Choice Awards.

House of the Dragon follows Daenerys’ ancestors, making the show a bit too close to home for Clarke's likening.

Speaking to Variety, Clarke described watching House of the Dragon to be invited to a school reunion that is not your year.

When asked about watching House of the Dragon, Clarke said: "No! Can you [forgive me]?

"It’s too weird. I’m so happy it’s happening. I’m over the moon about all the awards… I just can’t do it.

"It’s so weird. It’s so strange. It’s kind of like someone saying, ‘You want to go to this school reunion that’s not your year? Want to go to that school reunion?’

"That’s how it feels. I’m avoiding it."

While Clarke may not be one of the viewers, House of the Dragon brought in a staggering 9.9 million viewers on its first night, making it the largest audience in HBO's history.

Since its season finale in 2019, Clarke has been rather open about her time in Game of Thrones.

In an interview with Dax Shepard on Armchair Expert podcast, Clarke described how she felt a bit overwhelmed by the nudist/sex scenes.

She said: "I took the job and then they sent me the scripts and I was reading them, and I was, like, ‘Oh, there’s the catch!’

"But I’d come fresh from drama school, and I approached [it] as a job – if it’s in the script then it’s clearly needed, this is what this is and I’m gonna make sense of it… Everything’s gonna be cool.

"So I came to terms with that beforehand, but then going in and doing it… I’m floating through this first season and I have no idea what I’m doing, I have no idea what any of this is.

"I’ve never been on a film set like this before, I’d been on a film set twice before then, and I’m now on a film set completely naked with all of these people, and I don’t know what I’m meant to do and I don’t know what’s expected of me, and I don’t know what you want and I don’t know what I want."
