Alec Baldwin says he was ‘1000% nervous’ Trump supporters would kill him after ‘Rust’ shooting

Donald Trump called Alec Baldwin a 'nutjob'

Alec Baldwin says he was ‘1000% nervous’ that Donald Trump supporters would kill him following the shooting on the set of Rust after the former president's scathing assessment of the situation.

In October 2021, the actor reportedly had hold of a prop gun and allegedly accidentally discharged it towards two members of the film crew.

However, Baldwin claims that the faulty gun fired on its own.

Halyna Hutchins, director of photography, was killed and the film's director Joel Souza was injured.

The FBI concluded that the trigger on the firearm which killed the 42-year-old had to have been pulled, though Baldwin says he didn't pull the trigger.

When the incident happened, Trump told conservative radio host Chris Stigall in a podcast: "He's a troubled guy. There's something wrong with him. I've watched him for years. He gets into fistfights with reporters.

"He's a cuckoo-bird, he's a nutjob. And usually, when there's somebody like that, you know, in my opinion, he had something to do with it."

The former POTUS added: "But if nothing else, how do you take a gun and just, whether it's loaded or not loaded, how do you take a gun, point it at somebody that's not even in the movie and just point it at this person and pull the trigger and now she's dead?"

"It's weird," Trump added. "Who would take a gun and point it at a cinematographer and pull the trigger, and she's dead?

"As bad as it may have been kept, meaning you know the people that take care of the equipment and the guns and everything else.

"But even if it was loaded, and that's a weird thing – maybe he loaded it."

In a recent interview with CNN, Baldwin claimed he was concerned about a backlash from Trump supporters.

The actor said: "The former president of the United States said [I] probably shot her on purpose. To me, that was the only time I was worried about what was going to happen.

"Here was Trump, who instructed people to commit acts of violence, and he was pointing the finger at me and saying I was responsible for the death."

He added: "1000% i was nervous, that a bunch of people who were instructed by the former president to go to the Capitol – and they killed a law enforcement officer, they killed somebody. You don’t think I thought to myself, ‘Are some of those people going to come and kill me?'"
