The former wife of a man given the nickname of 'world's hottest felon' explained her decision to file for divorce shortly after her husband became a viral sensation.
Cast your mind back to June 2014. The investigation into the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 had really only just begun, Taylor Swift's 1989 album was still a few months away, and we'd never heard of a thing called Covid-19.
In that same month, a man named Jeremy Meeks was arrested on felony weapons charges, and had his mug shot uploaded to Facebook after being captured by the Stockton Police Department.
Afterwards, Officer Joseph Silva told the Associated Press: “I have not seen that many likes for a photo before."

Meeks' good looks garnered him a huge amount of attention, and thus the 'world's hottest felon' was born.
The newfound fame changed not only Meeks' life, but also that of his wife, Melissa.
Three years after the viral mugshot, Meeks was spotted kissing Chloe Green, heiress to the clothing brand Topshop, onboard a superyacht in Turkey.
Melissa opened up about the photo to the Daily Mail, saying she had 'no idea' her husband had been with Green, and that the photo left her 'humiliated'.
"Some random person I don’t know sent a direct message with the photograph of my husband kissing that woman," she said. "I went into shock. I felt nauseated. It was like a bomb had gone off and my whole world had been blown apart.
"I know it takes two to tango but she knew he was married," Melissa said.
"To me, that’s unforgivable. My whole world has been torn apart by this. What do I tell our children? My heart is broken."
Melissa also detailed meeting up with Meeks to talk about divorce, saying: "I told him I didn’t think the marriage could be saved. He agreed. The marriage is over."
In 2018, Green announced that she and Meeks had given birth to a baby boy named Jayden Meeks-Green.
In a post on Instagram, she wrote: “Born May 29th 2018. Mommy and Baby both doing well. We kindly ask to respect our privacy please. Much love Chloe & Jeremy.”
Green and Meeks ultimately decided to go their separate ways, but in an interview with Extra in October 2020, Meeks claimed he still has an 'incredible relationship' with Green.
He added: "Now I have a relationship with the mother of my oldest son ... We’re all coparenting. They are incredible mothers."
