What is Hawk Tuah Girl?

The phrase comes from a viral video on TikTok, where the woman was asked: “What’s one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?”

The question came as part of a video filmed by creators Tim & Dee TV, and saw Welch grinning as she stood with friends and prepared to share her thoughts.

Mimicking the action of someone mustering up some spit, she replied: "You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thing, you get me?"

Who is the Hawk Tuah Girl?

The woman more popular right now than Kim K is Hailey Welch, of Nashville, has been unmasked as the voice behind the viral sensation.

She currently has 75,000 followers on Instagram - and it will likely only continue to rise.

What has happened to the Hawk Tuah Girl?

Welch has responded to her fame by getting an agent and going into business with Fathead Threads, a family-owned business run by Jason Poteete and based in Marshall County, Tennessee.

According to Poteete, who spoke to the Rolling Stone, Welch is 'overwhelmed' by the attention, and has requested that he not share any personal details about her or feature her face on the merchandise.

He said: “She’s probably one of the most well-known people in the world at this point. But I don’t know if she’s embraced it.”

Fathead Threads is exclusively selling hats which read 'Hawk Tuah ’24', which are available for $32.78 each, with signed versions available for $50.

Poteete also estimated that the shop has so far sold just over 2,000 hats, earning an estimated $65,000.

Did the Hawk Tuah Girl get fired?

So why do people want to know if Welch got fired?

The question derives from a satirical article by the Tippah County Tribune, a Facebook page which describes itself in its bio as 'Tippah County’s #1 Publication For Satirical Laughs'.

The parody page, which has more than 9,000 followers, claimed Welch worked as a pre-school teacher and was sacked after the school discovered the video.

However, to quote Donald Trump: "Fake news."

What are people saying about the Hawk Tuah Girl?

Well, people have gone crazy, absolutely crazy for Welch - I can see why she's reserved.

While over on Reddit, one person posted 'Hawk. Tuah. What is it good for?', a hilarious take on Edwin Starr's hit song War, but moderators didn't find it funny and took down the post.

Still, people managed to commented, referring to the meme itself: "Why i'll never answer anyone shoving a cam and mic in my face lol."

While one X user posted: "I love the Hawk Tuah girl b/c the memes about this whole thing remind me of the earlier days of social media when people made funny stuff like this all the time and we were all in on the joke.

"Nowadays social media is just used to promote hatred and bigotry. I miss the old days."
