Man shares terrifying 'shadow person' video that's unlocked many people's childhood memories

A Reddit user provided online readers with nightmare fuel

Get ready people, this might be a video that’ll keep you awake tonight.

There is something that connects a lot of us, and it’s probably something you’ve kept hidden in your memory box, too afraid to open.

Maybe it was because you accidentally caught a glimpse of a scary movie as a kid, or you had a crazy imagination; whatever the case, there are millions of us around the world who will all remember this person (well, thing).

A Redditor has been told they have ‘unlocked’ memories for so many commenters after recreating a moment from their childhood.

The video shows a ‘shadow man’, who has apparently visited a lot of people’s homes at one point or another, and sometimes he still does to this day.

No, he’s not someone from the real world- but he is recognisable.

As a kid, you probably thought there was a plethora of monsters in the dark who were lying in wait until you fell asleep.

No matter how many times your parents looked in your closet or under your bed, you were never satisfied that they had chased away all of the creepers from your room.

Thanks to this guy, your fear of the dark continued for years and who could blame you as he’s absolutely terrifying.

User RMangatVFX posted to r/Ghosts and shared their own version of what they used to be afraid of as a kid, and it’s awful.

They wrote: “As a kid I used to see this shadow person at the foot of my bed. I have recreated it in CG to show what it was like.”

The video provides the point of view of someone who is nearly asleep in their bed, with their eyes opening and closing.

But then, a mysterious shadow figure appears at the foot of the bed, and as their eyes close, the shadow leans over and comes closer and closer to the sleepy person.

Many reported seeing the person as a result of sleep paralysis, which is unfortunately common amongst select people.

Honestly, it’s horrifying.

Commenters immediately knew what was up, and shared their own dealings with the creepy shadow figure.

One person wrote: “Ugh. I know this guy. What a pain to see at night.”

Someone else said: “I've had spiders crawling down my wall, aliens coming through the window and an executioner looking guy with an axe as well as the standard shadow demons.”

Another commented: “Mine wore a top hat. I would build a wall of stuffed animals along my bed to protect myself. Never saw the figure again after the age of 10. So glad for that. Nice work with the CG Op.”

“I have a shadow woman who crawls out of my closet. She's been making appearances for years. No matter where I move. I was in Iraq living in a tent and saw her crawling across the floor,” said a user, and someone replied to them saying: “I would be sleeping with a ring of salt around my bed.”

So, it’s safe to assume that this shadow person is a common nightmare-fuel fixture in people’s lives.
