Florence Pugh has previously spoken out about a rare condition that she was diagnosed with as a child which caused her to relocate from England to Spain.

Not all health issues are clear and obvious so it can come as quite a surprise when celebrities reveal a previously unknown diagnosis or health battle.

And while appearing on Running Wild with Bear Grylls in 2022, Pugh decided to get candid about her own health journey.

The pair travelled to Costa Rica and started their journey by jumping out of a helicopter like something straight out of an action flick.

During the 48-hour trip they also navigated rivers, rapids and waterfalls but while out the pair also touched on more personal topics.

The actor spoke about her family's decision to move countries when Pugh was between the ages of three and six based on the medical advice.

She said: "We were in Spain because I have a breathing issue, and when I was younger they kind of just advised that a hotter climate would be better.

"I have asthma and I have this thing called tracheomalacia as well. And so from a young age, I've just had a different breathing system.

"Now as an adult, unless I get ill, it doesn't really affect me as intensely as it did when I was younger."

What is Tracheomalacia?

Tracheomalacia is a rare condition which can cause the walls of the windpipe to collapse and block a person's airway, making it very difficult for them to breathe.

Luckily it sounds as though the condition no longer troubles Pugh as much as it did when she was younger.

Pugh isn't the only Hollywood star to speak openly about a serious medical condition on Running Wild with Bear Grylls, as Ashton Kutcher also opened up about a major medical scare.

He revealed that he'd suffered from a rare form of vasculitis, a condition which causes the walls of blood vessels to thicken and reduces or even cuts off the supply of blood to some parts of the body.

It's a potentially life threatening condition that left the actor temporarily unable to see, hear or walk and Kutcher believes himself 'lucky to be alive' following his experiences with it.

The long-running series follows Grylls as he takes a celebrity through harsh or hostile environments as they reveal personal truths about themselves.

A whole host of famous guests have appeared on the show, including former US president Barack Obama.
