Brooke Shields ran away 'butt naked' after losing virginity to Superman actor Dean Cain

The star discussed the ordeal in her documentary, Pretty Baby

At whatever age you lose your virginity, losing it can be a big deal - and this was certainly the case for Brooke Shields.

Shields, who was once labelled 'the most famous virgin in the world' after detailing her abstinence from sex in her 1985 book, Now What? With Brooke Shields, dated former Superman star Dean Cain for two years in the 80s.

During this time, the young star lost her virginity to him and ended up fleeing the room 'butt naked' afterwards.

The Endless Love star, 57, discussed the encounter in her documentary Pretty Baby, where she also reflected on her days as a child actor and being sexualised from a young age in controversial nude film scenes.

Shields attended Princeton University and it was during this time she dated Cain, now 56.

At this point in time, Shields was an experienced actor and had already starred in the films Pretty Baby, in which she plays a prostitute and the similarly controversial film The Blue Lagoon.

Dean was pursuing a career in professional football before he was bitten by the acting bug. He later went on to star opposite Teri Hatcher in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman in 1993.

"When we finally had sex, I immediately ran out of the room, ran down the hall butt naked, just running. I didn’t know where I was going," she recalls in the documentary.

"He ran after me with the duvet and grabbed a hold of me and said 'Where are you going?' He said, 'I’m not going anywhere, I’m not leaving you, you’re the same person' he got it immediately and I just cried."

She also explains how she was also confused by her own reaction to sex at the time, saying that she 'felt bad for that girl'.

Shields says: "She was old enough to own her body for real and I just couldn't get there at that moment."

Elsewhere in the documentary, Shields was reduced to tears discussing her mother allowing her to star in intimate scenes as an 11-year-old actress.

The scenes took place in Pretty Baby and, three years later, her mother, Teri Shields, allowed her to pose for Playboy magazine.

She told filmmakers that it felt normal at the time but said: “I don’t know why she thought it was all right. I don’t know.”

After her mother died of dementia in 2021, Shields finally felt brave enough to speak about her experiences as a child in the entertainment industry.
