Actor Ben Platt cuts interview short as he refuses to answer nepo baby question

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Platt was asked about a past article which referred to him as a 'nepo baby'.

Actor Ben Platt cut a recent interview short after refusing to answer a question about nepo babies.

A nepotism baby refers to the children or family members of celebrities who have succeeded in their respective careers due to their connections with their esteemed relatives.

Ben Platt, who is perhaps most famous for his role in Pitch Perfect, is the son of popular American film and television producer Marc E. Platt.

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Platt was asked about a past article which referred to him as a 'nepo baby'.

“You were on the cover of ‘New York Magazine‘s’ Nepo Baby issue. I’m curious, what was your response to that? And what do you make of that whole discourse?,” journalist EJ Dickson asked Platt.

“We’re going to skip right over that if we can,” Platt hit back, according to Page Six.

The actor’s publicist then reportedly requested that the interviewer stick to questions relating to Platt's upcoming film Theater Camp.

Awkward, very awkward.

According to the report from Page Six, the interview ended approximately halfway through the 45-minute allotted time.

The article Dickson was referring to was published six months ago.

Back in December of 2022, the New York Post attempted to highlight how common nepotism is in Hollywood by discussing a bunch of big-name celebs who were linked to famous families – either as distant relatives or direct children.

Platt, given his well-known mother and father, featured on the cover with his face photoshopped onto a baby’s body.

In turn, the term 'nepo baby' made headlines around the world with fans calling celebs out for their family links.

When news broke that Platt walked out on Rolling Stone for touching on the same topic, they wasted no time in flocking to social media to slam him.

One person tweeted: "Ben Platt is MAD mad lmao."

While another added: "Never ask a woman her age, a man his salary or Ben Platt who his father is."

As a third said: "Ben Platt’s ability to turn himself into the least likable person every single chance he is given needs to be studied."

Platt's film Theater Camp was released late last week in cinemas across the United States.
