Imagine popping into the club for a quick drink and Mark Wahlberg is there waiting to take your order.

Wahlberg decided to put aside his acting duties on Tuesday night (13 June) to serve up drinks at The Bellevue Chicago.

In all fairness, he wasn't just doing it for the love of pouring drinks.

The 52-year-old was actually promoting his tequila brand, Flecha Azul, which he claims is 'authentic, premium Mexican tequila', which has 'no additives' and 'no preservatives'.

The alcohol line was co-founded by Mexican PGA golfer Abraham Ancer and entrepreneur Aron Marquez.

"Tequila is definitely the healthiest alternative," Wahlberg told Fox News.

"If you're going to have any type of alcohol consumption, you're better off having tequila."

His decision to invest in a tequila brand was a strange one, given that it's not often his first drink of choice - with Wahlberg adding that he recalled being a 'big wine guy'.

“It’s funny because when it was first mentioned to me I said ‘absolutely not,’” Wahlberg told CNN Business in 2022.

“You have all these other people out there claiming to have gone to Mexico and created tequila and cultivated agave and all this stuff.

"They were like, ‘This is not what that is, we have two amazing guys who are really young and like minded.’ … I just said I would love to invest in them.

“I said I want to put my money where my mouth is and cut a big check and get involved with your brand and utilize all of my resources … everything that we have we are going to tap into and utilize to make sure this brand is as successful as possible."

He plans to make Flecha Azul the number one tequila brand in the world.

“It just felt like it was meant to be. He tried Flecha Azul and loved it." Ancer added.

“Our focus was to bring a tequila that’s made the traditional way with no shortcuts.

“It is extremely important for me to honor my culture and the families that have dedicated their lives to tequila making.”

And Wahlberg is unphased by the competition, such as Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's Teremana.

“The space is growing thanks to guys like Dwayne who have created a lot of awareness and excitement,” the Ted star said.

“We’re coming for everybody’s spot … We plan on being the best because we have the best product out there.

"It’s the best value proposition for the customer.”

Flecha Azul has five types of tequila; Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, Cristalino and Extra Añejo.
