Kim Kardashian admits she regrets controversial 'get your a** up' advice to women

The mega influencer offered up some frank advice for women in business, but it went down like a fart in a lift

Kim Kardashian has admitted she was 'mortified' by the backlash over her controversial advice for women in business.

The billionaire has undeniably done well for herself (the clue is in the word 'billionaire'), but she was born into a life of wealth and privilege; as such, a lot of people didn't take too kindly to her rather blunt business advice.

Speaking to Variety in March, the 41-year-old said: "I have the best advice for women in business. Get your f***ing ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days."

Understandably, the guidance went down like a fart in a lift, and in a new trailer for season two of The Kardashians, the mega billionaire can be seen dealing with the aftermath.

Watch here:

In the clip, Kim mentions the backlash to the interview, and sister Khloé reminds her: "No one sympathises with you."

Kim adds: "I'm mortified. I do understand why people were upset."

But Khloé appears to have her older sister's back, telling Kim in the back of a car: "You got this. We're built for this."

Kim's comments sparked a fierce backlash, with many people pointing out that the reductive advice of a privileged billionaire seemed completely out of touch with the reality for millions of women across the world.

One person tweeted: "It's probably true that the Kardashians work hard, and Kim seems to have the most hustle of the bunch.

"But to ignore the pre-career privilege — a famous, uber-rich father & vast LA network that included Paris Hilton at her peak of fame — is tone deaf at best, offensive at worst."

Kardashian subsequently apologised for the remarks, which she claimed were 'taken out of context'.

Speaking on Good Morning America, she said: "That statement that I said was without questions and conversation around it, and it became a soundbite really with no context.

"In that soundbite, I came off of the notion in the question right before, which was, 'After 20 years of being in the business, you're famous for being famous.'

"And my whole tone and attitude changed with the previous question that went into that question about, 'What advice would you give to women?'"

However, interviewer Elizabeth Wagmeister, Variety's chief correspondent, challenged Kim's version of events.

"It's not what she claims," she tweeted. "I just reviewed the raw footage. The question was very direct: 'What would be your advice for women in business?'

"The question about being famous for being famous came after that question, actually."
