Now he's hit the milestone of a whopping 10 million followers in the first 24 hours after posting a video in which he thanked fans for their support during his defamation trial.
Depp recently won a defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, who was ordered to pay him more than $10 million in damages, while he was ordered to pay her $2 million in a separate verdict.
The actor's first video on TikTok showed him waving to crowds of fans who supported him through the trial and featured footage of people holding up placards with positive messages for him.
He also wrote a message to his fans which read: 'To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together.
'We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together.'
'You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD.'
Having been viewed more than 24 million times and garnered more than seven million likes, it's a hugely popular opening on the platform for Depp.
Whether he'll continue using TikTok in the future or only ventured onto the platform as a way of communicating with his younger fans remains to be seen, though if he does post more videos, the audience for them will be huge.
The comments below the video have been hugely appreciative, with more than 350,000 leaving messages for the actor in response to his arrival on TikTok.
One person said Depp had 'an amazing soul', while another said 'the bond he has with us, his fans is just so sweet'.
Even the official TikTok account of Romania chipped in to show appreciation to Depp, and invited him to visit their country.
Other well-wishes directed towards the actor indicated that they hoped he would be able to enjoy some peace and quiet now that the highly public defamation trial had come to an end.
